Bob joined Davenport & Company in 1967 as assistant to Alexander Armour, the firm’s managing partner. Under Armour’s mentorship, Bob witnessed countless examples of exceptional work ethic and practicing the Golden Rule. Bob takes inspiration from Mr. Armour’s example that age does not require retirement from helping and investing in others.
After working alongside Mr. Armour for several years, Bob developed his own successful practice. With more than 50 years of investment experience, Bob’s range of investment services includes traditional brokerage services, investment analysis, financial planning and wealth management solutions. He holds Series 1, 24 and 63 registrations with FINRA.
In addition to serving clients, Bob is a member of Davenport’s Investment Policy Committee, which makes investment decisions for Davenport Asset Management, and the Portfolio Review Committee, which offers an advisory service through Davenport Asset Management. He is an honorary member of the firm’s Board of Directors and a past member of the Executive Committee. He serves as the firm’s resident historian and, in 2013, was instrumental in creating Davenport’s 150th Anniversary celebration materials.
Invested in the community, Bob volunteers his services on the Architectural Review Board for Hanover County, the Rural Plains Foundation Board and the Board of the Historic Polegreen Church Foundation. He is also member of the Capital Projects Committee for the American Civil War Museum in Richmond and a former president of the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities (APVA), now known as Preservation Virginia.
